Львів, Україна COMBATING TRAFFICKING IN WOMEN IN THE EUROPEAN UNION: LEGAL FRAMEWORKS AND EMERGING MIGRATION CHALLENGES Abstract . This article examines the European Union‘s approach to combating trafficking in women, focusing primarily on its legal framework, institutional mechanisms, and the impact of new migration challenges. it analyzes the EU‘s response to trafficking in women, its legal framework, and institutions, as well as how current migration trends are exacerbating this problem. Human trafficking is viewed as an international crime and a human rights violation linked to migration, global economic and social inequality, instability, and increasingly exploits the vulnerability of migrant women. The article provides a brief overview of EU policy on human trafficking. The paper considers the main forms of human trafficking (sexual exploitation, forced labor, or forced marriage), risk factors linked to gender stereotypes, and the EU‘s legal framework on human trafficking (Directive 2011/36/EU), including the role of specific stakeholders (such as the European Commission, Europol, and Frontex). The article also examines (1) cooperation between the EU and third countries, (2) the impact of irregular migration and digitalization, and (3) inconsistent implementation of EU decisions by national
