183 utilization, impaired energy metabolism and dysfunction of key signaling pathways responsible for synaptic plasticity and cognitive processes. The research showed that insulin resistance is associated with cognitive decline, memory impairment and structural changes in the cerebral cortex. It also contributes to neurodegenerative processes through neuroinflammation, oxidative stress and accumulation of pathological proteins (β-amyloid and tau protein) linking it to the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Thus, insulin resistance is one of the key mechanisms linking metabolic disorders with cognitive decline and neurodegeneration. REFERENCES: 1.
