The results of identifying the features of formation and kinematic characteristics of jet and vortex flows near the flexible screen web of a model of a jet- directing structure for improving the cooling conditions of nuclear power plant reactors are presented. The generation and formation of vortex and jet flows near a jet-directing screen are described using visual and instrumental researches. The hydrodynamic characteristics of the velocity field and direction of fluid movement within the jet-directing structure in a cooling pond are determined.
