The aim of the work was to investigate and compare structural changes in rat‘s liver tissue with different levels of oxygen consumption. The study was conducted on 30 male Wistar rats at the age of 4 months. Rats were divided into animals with low and high levels of oxygen consumption. Tissue samples were taken from the left lobe of the liver for histological examination. In rats with high levels of oxygen consumption histomorphometric signs of greater functional and regenerative activity of the liver were found compared to animals with low oxygen consumption. Therefore, the level of oxygen consumption by the body must be taken into account when conducting studies on the liver. Keywords: liver, oxygen consumption, morphology, rats.
