The findings underline the importance of developing specialized methodological approaches for evaluating ecosystem services in radioactively and war-affected landscapes to support restoration strategies and sustainable environmental management. The military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has caused large-scale degradation of natural ecosystems, which, in turn, has intensified scientific interest in the concept of ecosystem services as an effective tool for the quantitative assessment of environmental damage and for identifying priority areas for the restoration of affected territories [1]. This issue is particularly critical for the territories of the Polissia region, where active hostilities directly within the exclusion zone and adjacent areas lead to mechanical disturbance of the soil cover, secondary migration of radionuclides, destruction of radiation monitoring infrastructure, and destabilization of the management regime of contaminated sites. Thus, the scientific and practical relevance of this issue is reinforced by the combination of two distinct yet closely interrelated drivers of ecosystem degradation: long-term radiation exposure and the consequences of military actions resulting from the full-scale armed aggression that began in 2022. In areas adjacent to radioactively contaminated zones, military operations also contribute to the degradation of ecosystem services through the destruction of vegetation cover, soil and water contamination, disruption of hydrological regimes, and fragmentation of natural landscapes. Consequently, the synergistic interaction between radioecological and war-induced factors creates qualitatively new conditions for ecosystem functioning, which require appropriate methodological frameworks for their adequate assessment. In leading international studies [2–5], ecosystem services are defined as the benefits that humans derive from ecosystem functioning, including provisioning of material resources, regulatory mechanisms, and non-material values.
