Consequently, the interpretation of a composer‘s artistic intention requires consideration of historical, stylistic, cultural, and national contexts. A particularly illustrative example is the sonic image of bells, which occupies a special place in both European and Ukrainian musical traditions. Bell sonority may embody sacred, commemorative, ceremonial, or dramatic meanings depending on the composer‘s aesthetic conception and the context of the musical work. The historical development of percussion performance practice is also reflected in the transformation of timpani functions. Once primarily associated with orchestral accompaniment, timpani have gradually acquired an independent concert role. In contemporary music, they increasingly appear as solo instruments or as equal participants in ensemble performance, demonstrating the considerable expansion of the artistic and expressive potential of the percussion family. Conclusion. The study of percussion instruments within the system of musical imagery requires a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach integrating historical- cultural, national-stylistic, and evolutionary perspectives. Such an approach allows researchers to trace the continuity of musical traditions, identify patterns in the transformation of artistic meanings, and reveal mechanisms of cultural dialogue operating within the historical development of musical art. The evolution of percussion imagery demonstrates both the preservation of traditional symbolic meanings and the emergence of new artistic interpretations, confirming the dynamic role of percussion instruments in contemporary musical culture.
