337 canal and temporal bone, particularly in the internal auditory canal, spiral ligament, stria vascularis, and macula [7]. Examination of the temporal bones of newborns who died from congenital toxoplasmosis revealed that in 40% of newborns, free or encysted organisms were found in the temporal bone [9]. A study by Maquera-Afaray J et al. reports the most common symptoms of toxoplasmosis as hydrocephalus, intracranial calcifications, microcephaly, and chorioretinitis. Most cases were diagnosed after one month of life [10]. Conclusions Thus, in the majority of cases, congenital toxoplasmosis presents no specific symptoms other than low birth weight. The classic signs of symptomatic disease are chorioretinitis, hydrocephalus, and intracranial calcifications. At the same time, visual impairment may develop throughout the patient’s lifetime.
