On December 9, the head of the department of documents and scientific research on local lore A.A. Trokai took part in the presentation of the collective monograph "Essays on the history of development of Southern Ukraine XV-XVIII centuries." (Kyiv, 2020), which was organized by the Odessa National Scientific Library together with the Southern Interregional Department for the Implementation of National Memory Policy in the Regions of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and was held online.

The event was attended by the authors: Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of History of Ukraine, Faculty of History and Philosophy, Mechnikov Odessa National University T.G. Goncharuk, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of History of Ukraine, Faculty of History and Philosophy, II Mechnikov Odessa National University V.M. Poltorak, Candidate of Historical Sciences, researcher at the A. Krymsʹkoho Institute of Oriental Studies National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities, Istanbul University O.G. Sereda.

The monograph on the history of Southern Ukraine of the XV-XVIII centuries is one of the components of restoring the memory of the pre-imperial period of the history of Southern Ukraine, which covers various aspects of the history of settlements in the region in the XV-XVIII centuries and the mechanisms of symbolic appropriation of space used by the Russian Empire. The pages of the publication present the results of scientific research and understanding of the past of the steppe spaces. The main attention is paid to the issues of urbogenesis, because the thesis about the exclusively imperial character of the cities that exist in Southern Ukraine is still alive and even enshrined in the official dates of the beginning of urban history. A number of materials in this book are devoted to the history of the south-western part of the region, where the authors speak not only about Odessa, but also about other Ukrainian cities, which undoubtedly have their origins in the last quarter of the XVIII century.

The monograph is freely available on the website of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory. Follow the link https://uinp.gov.ua/elektronni-vydannya/narysy-z-istoriyi-osvoyennya-pivdennoyi-ukrayiny-xv-xviii-st and study the history of the Northern Black Sea Coast.
