23 січня у рамках підтримки Фестивалю «Нове Британське кіно» у Центрі європейської інформації відбувся перегляд психологічного трилеру «Убивство священного оленя». Режисер – Йоргос Лантімос, у головних ролях – Колін Фарелл та Ніколь Кідман. Фільм було відібрано для участі в основній конкурсній програмі 70-го Канського міжнародного кінофестивалю (2017) у змаганні за Золоту пальмову гілку. В основу стрічки лягла антична трагедія Евріпіда «Іфігєнія в Авліді».
Фільм розповідає про успішного харизматичного кардіохірурга Стівена, який живе спокійним сімейним життям, аж доки не починає спілкуватися з підлітком Мартіном, батька якого він невдало оперував. З часом дії хлопчика починають набувати дивного та лякаючого характеру, ідеальне життя Стівена стає нічним кошмаром, в якому йому доведеться зробити важкий вибір.
Глядачі зійшлися на думці, що даний фільм тяжкий, емоційно насичений, з напруженим сюжетом, призначений не для всіх та потребує осмислення.

«The Killing of a Sacred Deer»
On January 23, within the framework of the support of the Festival «New British Cinema» at the Center of European Information, a review of the psychological thriller «The Killing of a Sacred Deer» was held by the organizers of the British Council in Ukraine and Arthouse Traffic company.
Psychological thriller film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos with Colin Farell and Nicole Kidman in the lead roles. The film was selected to participate in the main competition program of the 70th Cannes International Film Festival (2017) in the competition for the Golden Palm. The story is based on the ancient Greek tragedy Iphigenia at Aulis by Euripides.
The film tells of the Steven Murphy, a skilled cardiothoracic surgeon, lives a calm family life, until he begins to communicate with a teenager, whose father Steven unsuccessfully operated. However, the boy's actions begin to get strange and frightening, and Stephen's perfect life becomes a nightmare in which he will have to make a very difficult choice - to donate someone from the family to restore balance and preserve the majority of family members.
The audience agreed that the film is hard, emotionally rich, with a tense plot, not intended for everyone, needs to be comprehended, but it is real and sensual.
