The article examines the reasons for the growth of the state debt due to the russian-Ukrainian war, the slowdown in the economic activity of enterprises and the rapid economic recession in Ukraine. It is noted that budget revenues have sharply decreased and spending on security and defense has increased significantly. As a result, the budget deficit has increased and, accordingly, the state debt has increased due to the need to attract additional financial resources. The analysis of the implementation of the State Budget of Ukraine has shown that the budget deficit is a chronic phenomenon, however, this indicator has significantly increased during the period of russia's full-scale invasion of the territory of Ukraine.
