166 • terminology research – the ability to search, select, and critically evaluate terminological information with an analysis of semantic nuances and cross-linguistic mapping; • terminology management – the skill to systematize and classify terms considering word-formation models, semantic fields, and lexical relations; • documentation search – he ability to work with various documentary materials (regulations, specifications, technical descriptions); • genre-specific and domain-specific knowledge – knowledge of genre and industry characteristics ensuring an adequate choice of terms according to stylistic and communicative norms. British NOS-T/NOS-I standards detail terminological competence through four key abilities: maintaining terminological consistency; using domain-specific resources; explaining and justifying term selection; and decision-making in situations of interlinguistic asymmetry [6; 7]. Research by H. Malyk confirms that the effectiveness of vocational training depends largely on the integration of the competency-based approach with methodological principles of translation pedagogy [2, pp. 2–3]. The researcher highlights adaptive, modeling-prognostic, and practice-oriented functions of the approach. K. Gevorgyan, O. Hvozdiak, and U. Shostak also emphasize that translation methodology should be a holistic process of transferring professionally significant knowledge and skills [1]. Based on the analysis of professional standards, the following stages of mastering foreign specialized terminology have been identified: 1. Achieving a general understanding of the specific domain's terminological system. 2. Gradual complication of tasks (from general informative texts to highly specialized materials). 3. Developing the ability to convey not only the meaning but also the function of a term. 4. Cultivating professional ethical responsibility for translation accuracy.
