This article analyzes the ideas of intellectual education in Ukrainian pedagogical thought at the beginning of the 21st century in the context of contemporary educational changes. It defines the essence of intellectual education as a process of developing intellectual abilities, critical thinking, reflection, and cognitive activity of the individual. The main scientific approaches to organizing the educational process are characterized, in particular, the competency-based, activity- based, and person-centered approaches. The significance of interactive methods, digital technologies, and an innovative educational environment in fostering learners‘ capacity for self-development is highlighted. The importance of combining traditional pedagogical ideas with modern educational approaches is emphasized.
