203 educational space, and the growing role of the information society, the issue of intellectual development takes on particular significance. Modern education focuses not only on the transfer of knowledge but also on the development of an individual‘s intellectual potential, their capacity for self- development, and active social interaction. In this context, the idea that ―competent and qualified, responsible and conscientious, creative and competitive, constructive and consensus-oriented citizens – this is the main secret to Ukraine‘s achievement of international recognition, competitiveness, and sustainable economic development‖ [1, p. 12] is particularly relevant. This is precisely why intellectual education is viewed as a key prerequisite for shaping a competent individual capable of acting effectively in the face of dynamic change. Of particular importance are pedagogical ideas according to which ―the educational system must be based on a guiding principle that will resolve conflicts both within the system itself and in society as a whole‖ [2, p. 22]. In this regard, intellectual education serves not only as a component of the educational process but also as a strategic factor in the development of the individual and society. The relevance of the study is further heightened by the need for a scientific re- examination of contemporary pedagogical approaches. ―Pedagogy lacks metasystemic theories and a system of mutually consistent concepts and categories; instead, empirical conclusions dominate‖ [3, p. 30]. This necessitates a comprehensive analysis of the development of ideas regarding intellectual education in Ukrainian pedagogy at the beginning of the 21st century, as well as the identification of their theoretical foundations, trends, and prospects for further development. The issue of the development of ideas regarding intellectual education in Ukrainian pedagogy at the beginning of the 21st century takes on particular relevance in the context of rapid social transformations, the digitalization of the educational sphere, and the transition to a competency-based model of education.
