206 of mathematical fideism, to which it is necessarily subordinated. This mathematical fideism is inherent, among other things, in J. Lacan’s psychoanalysis, and it is fundamentally topological in character — indeed, scientific in character, mentally apprehensible. The unthinkable metaphysics of lack, the metaphysics of anxiety- jouissance and of the object-hieroglyph are, in the case of Lacanian theory, overcome by logically non-contradictory (or, geometrically speaking, non-intersecting) mathematical manifolds. More precisely, the self-intersections present in topological forms, for example in the figure of the ―inner eight,‖ the cross-cap, or the Klein bottle, should be thought of merely as a specular illusion of the evident phenomenology of being, the phenomenology of three-dimensional space. The use of geometric logic makes it possible to overcome the paradoxicality of the metaphysical relation between the absolute ―in itself‖ and the given ―for us.‖ At the same time, the very perspective of thinking the absolute is subordinated to the principle of desire expressed by topological multiplicity, from which follows its fundamentally correlationist character. The topology of Lacanian psychoanalysis does not contradict the production of absolutizing meta-statements through the language of mathematics; precisely for this reason, J. Lacan invents his well-known graphs, rings, and other geometric forms, vulnerable to all manner of parametrizations, cuts, and deformations. Q. Meillassoux shares a similar approach to thinking the absolute, indicating that there may be such an ontic being, expressed by an object (such as the Möbius strip or the same Klein bottle mentioned above) or by a law, that opens access to the conceptualization of the absolute [2, p. 127] . Must it be strictly dependent on number, or is a specific topological logic, disrupting traditional philosophical heuristics, sufficient? Does the mathematical aspect of Lacan’s theory possess the same truth-value as Q. Meillassoux’s conceptual developments? Evidently so — especially given the broad methodological context of post-Lacanian theory, which increasingly turns, for example, to complex scientific data in the geometric, optical, and neurophysiological domains. 6.
