The article presents theoretical and methodological aspects of sports selection of young futsal players aged 13–14 years based on a comprehensive assessment of physical fitness and functional adaptation indicators. The purpose of the study was to substantiate the criteria for sports selection and monitoring of preparedness of promising young futsal players. Thirty adolescents aged 13–14 years participated in the study and were divided into two groups: futsal players and non-athletes. Pedagogical testing, pedagogical observation, and methods of mathematical statistics were used. Indicators of speed, coordination, speed-strength, and strength preparedness were assessed. It was established that the results of the 15 m sprint in futsal players were 2.65±0.02 s compared to 3.11±0.05 s in non-athletes (p<0.01), while the standing
