Associate Professor, Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Bukovinian State Medical University Chernivtsi, Ukraine CLINICAL FEATURES OF CONGENITAL TOXOPLASMOSIS (LITERATURE REVIEW) Abstract. Congenital toxoplasmosis is an important medical and social problem in perinatology and neonatology. One of the routes of infection is the transplacental route. Infection of the fetus with Toxoplasma gondii during intrauterine development can lead to both asymptomatic carriage and generalized lesions of the central nervous system, the organ of vision and hearing, liver and spleen. Our article reviews the main complications of congenital toxoplasmosis, namely the classic triad: chorioretinitis, hydrocephalus and intracranial calcifications, as well as additional damage to the hearing apparatus. Studying the features of the clinical course of congenital toxoplasmosis is key to timely diagnosis, treatment and prevention of complications in children.
