331 UDC 349.3 Karpenko Roman Valeriiovych candidate of legal sciences, docent Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs Dnipro, Ukraine FEATURES OF THE SOCIAL STATUS OF INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS DURING MARTIAL LAW Abstract. The article explores the key aspects of social protection for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukraine during the period of martial law, which has arisen due to the large-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation. It delves into the definition and scope of the term "internally displaced person" and outlines the primary legal frameworks governing their rights, including Ukrainian legislation, decrees from the Cabinet of Ministers, and local government regulations. The focus is placed on the evolving strategies within state social policy to address the needs of IDPs in times of crisis. These include systems for allocating financial assistance, providing temporary housing, ensuring access to healthcare and education services, as well as implementing programs for professional retraining and employment. Major emphasis is placed on the pressing challenges confronting the social protection system, such as difficulties in registering displaced individuals and issues with insufficient funding.
