129 printing space on web pages or in newspapers is strictly limited, while capturing the reader's attention must happen instantly. Consider, for example, a headline from an analytical piece in a business publication regarding a corporation's financial distress: «The tech giant is skating on thin ice as investors spark a boardroom revolt» (Financial Times). In the Ukrainian translation, this expression was adapted as follows: «Технологічний гігант опинився на межі краху через бунт інвесторів у раді директорів» (translated by I. Melnyk). Evidently, a literal translation of the English metaphor "skating on thin ice" ( катається на тонкій кризі ) would sound unnatural and weak within the context of Ukrainian business analytics. To preserve the pragmatic weight of the situation, the translator utilized modulation (a logical development of meaning), transforming the ice imagery into the contextual equivalent of "being on the brink of collapse" [2, c. 202]. Furthermore, the vivid phrase "boardroom revolt" was successfully rendered as "a revolt of investors in the board of directors." This allowed for an immediate explanation of the corporate conflict's essence to the reader without losing the dramatic tone of the original headline. In conclusion, successful performance in the media sphere requires a specialist to balance factual accuracy with creative adaptation to the mindset of a foreign audience. Translators must overcome not only purely linguistic barriers but also structural discrepancies in text architecture, differences in societal values, and cognitive information processing. Ultimately, the quality of such a translation is measured by its capacity to engage and interest a foreign reader as deeply as the original text engaged its native speaker. REFERENCES: 1.
