Olena Solovey’s grandad met his half sister Eugenia in the 1960s After locating Anna, Olena decided to continue her research. Thus, on February 1, 2026, after six days of intensive work, Olena successfully located her father's cousin, Andrii, with whom contact had been severed for nearly forty years. Their last meeting took place in 1989 in the village of Kryvushi (Poltava region), with an earlier meeting in Crimea. This search resulted in the restoration of connection between family members. A two-hour conversation between them included shared memories and emotional responses, demonstrating the long-term preservation of family connections despite decades of separation. This emotional reconnection highlights that genealogical research has a practical, human dimension, bridging gaps created by time and social upheavals. Another important aspect of genealogy is the ability to identify physical similarities across generations. This can support hypotheses about family relationships.
