With the rapid change of technology and labor market, education in general, and ESP courses in particular, are expected to go through a transformation where new learning environments are expected to be highly flexible, incentive to communicative skills [1]. One of the most significant skills in the maritime profession is communication. ESP teachers use a wide range of methods to activate speaking and critical thinking skills and to organize individual and team work. These methods include gamification, role-playing, discussions, brainstorming, case studies, and project-based learning. Such activities can be organized in either a synchronous or an asynchronous way, each with its own advantages and limitations. However, digital tools can contribute to both forms, serving different purposes. Speaking in another language – especially professional purposes can cause anxiety. Digital tools ensure a safe, judgment-free space to practice and test speaking skills repeatedly [2]. The most widely used digital tools in ESP classes are Canva, Miro, Kahoot!, Mentimeter, Wizer.me, and Quizizz. Almost all of them can be adapted for both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments. One of the most important advantages of asynchronous communication is the fact that students can complete speaking assignments at a time and location that is most convenient for them. Moreover, the use of asynchronous communication tools improves concentration and the quality of students‘ utterances [3]. Particularly effective for asynchronous studying are Wizer.me and Quizizz, which allow the creation of tasks such as multiple-choice, gap-fill, matching, true/false, sorting and classification, and listening- and video-based tasks. They are suitable for both vocabulary revision and grammar practice in Maritime English. Students can practice SMCPs, listen to authentic VHF communications, analyze maritime accidents using video materials, and complete various professionally oriented activities. In addition to controlled practice activities, both Wizer.me and Quizizz can be adapted for speaking practice. They support open-ended or scenario-based questions, as well as assignments that require audio or video responses. Such tasks allow students to work independently at
