Modern warfare is increasingly characterized by the employment of high- precision weaponry, among which guided aerial bombs occupy a significant position. In the Russo-Ukrainian War, this type of armament has become one of the primary means for striking military positions, critical infrastructure assets, and population centers. The utilization of GABs enables aviation to conduct strikes at significant standoff distances from the front line, thereby reducing the risk of attrition for carrier aircraft. Consequently, the issue of developing effective strategies to counter guided aerial bombs has acquired a particular urgency. The effective neutralization of guided aerial bombs requires a comprehensive integration of air defense assets, electronic warfare capabilities, the destruction of carrier aircraft, and the refinement of early warning systems; only a multi-layered approach is capable of mitigating the disruptive impact of high-precision air strikes on Ukraine‘s military and civilian infrastructure. 1. Characteristics of Guided Aerial Bombs Guided aerial bombs are modernized munitions equipped with integrated navigation and flight correction systems. These weapons utilize satellite-based guidance, inertial navigation systems, or semi-active laser homing. By virtue of specialized wing kits or glide modules, GABs are capable of traversing dozens of kilometers following release from the carrier aircraft. The primary advantages of such munitions include: • High precision strike capability; • Significant standoff range; • Relatively low cost-per-unit compared to missiles; • Capacity for mass employment. 2. However, GABs possess inherent vulnerabilities that can be exploited for counteraction.
