The article examines the application of STEM education ideas as an innovative approach to teaching biology through the integration of school subjects and highlights the main tasks in the implementation of these principles within the educational process of the New Ukrainian School. A brief review of regulatory and legal documents aimed at the active implementation of STEM education in Ukraine, which is one of the main trends in innovative education, is presented. Attention is focused on the fact that the implementation of STEM in the era of digitalization of education contributes to the development of critical thinking skills of students and provides teachers with the opportunity to integrate knowledge across several subject areas simultaneously. It also promotes teacher training, modernization of material, technical, educational and methodological support, and the organization of the pedagogical process based on partnership among the teaching community, students, and parents. Possible options for integrating individual topics and an example of a fragment of an integrated lesson in biology, chemistry, geography, mathematics, and literature on the topic ―Respiration,‖ conducted in the form of a biological-literary salon, are presented.
